The Gujarat State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (GSCPCR) is committed to ensuring that every child enjoys their rights as guaranteed under the Constitution of India and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The Commission works to protect children from exploitation, abuse, neglect, discrimination, and violence while promoting education, health, welfare, and participation in society.

Children are an integral part of society and represent the future of our nation. Ensuring every child receives a safe, healthy, and quality environment is essential for building a strong and progressive society. The Government has enacted various laws and policies to safeguard the rights, welfare, and overall development of children.
The Gujarat State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (GSCPCR) was constituted in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC–1989) , accepted by the Government of India. In exercise of the powers conferred under Section 17 of the Commission for Protection of Child Rights Act, 2005 , the Government of Gujarat established the Commission through Notification dated 28 September 2012 to ensure the protection, promotion, and realization of child rights across the State.
Child Rights
1) Right to Survival: The child has the right to be born, to be vaccinated, to have nutritious food, to have clean water and shelter.
2) Right to Development: The child has the right to play, to have education and health services.
3) Right to Care and Protection: The child has the right to be protected from exploitation, harassment, violence and neglect.
4) Right to Participation: The child has the right to express his/her opinion, to join groups and societies, to participate in decisions that affect him/her.
- To investigate cases of violation or infringement of child rights and to recommend action to the authorities.
- To investigate and review all matters relating to the protection of the rights of children by or under any law and to take steps for its effective implementation.
- To inquire into factors that hinder the enjoyment of children's rights—such as terrorism, communal violence, riots, natural disasters, domestic violence, HIV/AIDS, abuse, torture, exploitation, and being forced into prostitution—and to recommend appropriate remedial measures.
- To inspect child care institutions where juvenile offenders are housed for treatment, rehabilitation, or protection, and to pursue matters regarding remedial measures with the concerned authorities.
- Monitoring and investigation work under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act-2009 and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act-2012.
- To spread literacy of child rights among stakeholders in the community and to promote awareness for the protection of these rights through publications, media, seminars and other available means.
- To take policy decisions that provide relief to children with the aim of alleviating the difficulties of children and ensuring their welfare.
- To examine the existing policies, programmes and other activities for the protection of child rights and recommend their effective implementation in the interest of children.
- To submit an annual/periodic report to the State Government on the work related to the protection of child rights.
- To conduct special studies, surveys and social audits in the field of child rights.

Stakeholders Related to Child Protection
Gujarat has child protection services, resources, and redressal mechanisms in place. Community stakeholders (individuals, organizations, and active agencies within the community) can utilize these to prevent violations of child protection rights.
Child Welfare Committee
A legal committee that makes decisions regarding the care,safety, rehabilitation, and welfare of children in need of care and protection.
Juvenile Justice Board
Hears cases involving children in conflict with the law and issues appropriate orders.

Ensures sensitive handling and safety regarding crimes involving children.
Sakhi One Stop Centre Scheme
A scheme that provides immediate assistance, legal guidance, medical aid, psychological counseling, and rehabilitation services at a single location to women and girls facing violence, exploitation, or crisis situations.
Police-Based Support Centre
Provides counseling, legal aid, and rehabilitation support to at-risk children and youth.
